The Kerameikos in Athens is an ancient necropolis and archaeological site that offers insights into the life and death of the inhabitants of ancient Athens.

Originally a suburb of the city, Kerameikos developed over time into an important center for burials and crafts. It is home to important archaeological remains such as the Dipylon Gate and the Tomb of the Actor. This site is a window into the past, connecting visitors with the rich history of Athens.

The Kerameikos is located close to the Roman Agora and Hadrian's Library. Opposite of the Kerameikos you find the modern "Gasi" area, an ideal destination to end your evening after sightseeing with a relaxed visit to a restaurant or bar.
