Skip the queue on major sites in athens, easy to book, extra island hop day was fabulous! I went with 4 day pass and broke up places to go based on location so I could do together with no fuss. Didn't use public transport much or the hop on and off bus as walking around is so easy and fun! These would be fabulous though in hotter or wet weather.
We were able to visit the different sites and museums in peace. Athens in October is good: not too hot, not too many people. Be careful: there are 2 archaeological museums and only one is on the list!
Everything we wanted to visit was included and we had no probem with the entrances.
Having also the tickets for public transport was very good. The only inconvenient was that the tickets had to be personally picked up from the public transport building.
We took the Athens City Pass as a couple for our stay in Athens in September 2024. Very interesting for the visits even if no queue jump for the Acropolis. Very interesting for the metro but on the other hand, not at all practical at the time of all online to go and get the transport ticket for the entire stay, look carefully where it is ... Bus circuit not really appreciated on our side.
We did the Hop On Hop Off bus tour. The rating is 4 rather than 5 because the French language did not work even though the selector allowed it. We loved being able to book our Acropolis tour time in advance with the pass. We also liked having the pass on the phone.
The Athens Turobopass is definitely recommended, we had a lot of fun with it but keep in mind that A: you cannot activate the public transport ticket during the weekend so if you arrive on Friday evening you can only get your ticket at the counter on Monday morning. B: you cannot travel all the way to the airport with this public transport ticket, (the last zone is NOT included...) it is stated in the description but because so much information is given you can easily overlook this and the result is a fine for fare dodging because there are checks calculated at that last zone... And that is a bit sour at the end of your holiday. Otherwise it was really great, we also did the cruise where you visit three islands, definitely recommended, delicious food on the way and a wonderful experience where we even spotted dolphins!
It was great having the 3 day Athens pass during our stay in Athens. The pass allowed us to see so many sites & museums we were interested in seeing without additional costs. The on & off bus was amazing. We got to see so much of Athens simply by riding the bus, which comes with a recor.ded guided tour. There didn't seem to be an express line for the Acropolis. Other reviewers noted the difficulty in finding the passes & we had similar issues, but persevere you will find the on-line passes. Have fun!
Take it without hesitation if you don't want to bother waiting in line. The negative is having to collect the transport passes from an agency in Athens from the 1st day. Depending on where your hotel is located you will have to walk (about 35 mins for us) or pay for the metro in addition (depending on the distance from your hotel, it's better). Otherwise, everything was perfect, even the yellow bus was nice
The complete package is a great idea and saves a lot of time. One thing though is that you have to be aware to go and see the main attractions on the same day, meaning that if you don´t do it on that day, you will need to pay again. It says on the PDFs that you receive by email, but you can miss it.
The option of public transport I think is great, saved me a lot of walking. The metro is very easy to use and the buses will get you anywhere.
Hope on, hop off bus also helps you move around the city. Tip, you can get to the ports and the Athenian Rivera using the bus.
One huge miss is the Panathenaic Stadium as it is not included in the City pass, have that in mind.
WE DID ALL OF ATHENS ON FOOT BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PREFERABLE TO HAVE A LITTLE MORE DAY ON THE BUS WITH MULTIPLE STOPS TWO DAYS IT’S TOO SHORT
It was unclear that for some attractions you had to pick up your ticket with the turbopass. But the personal at the attraction was kind and helpful
We had the bad luck we were in Athens during Greek orthodox eastern, but we could use the pass to our advantage. Used the hop on/ hop off bus for the full 2 days and seen a lot of the museums around the place were we stayed.
Athens you took our hearts.
Loved the full 5 day we were there.
Incredible city, this pass allows you to visit the main must-see monuments which is great! A small downside if you take the pass with transport included (bus, metro and tram) because we arrived Friday evening and the pass can only be collected from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. We therefore did not have our pass on the first day and it would have been wise to have reported this before booking.
Many sites included in the pass, allowing you to do it without rushing over several days. However, it does not include access for children under 6 years old. They do not pay in the majority of sites but a ticket is still necessary...so it does not necessarily save time!
Very useful for visits -- Transport ticket very difficult to recover
Lots of interesting options with the Athens City Pass. Visited museums that I wouldn't have otherwise chosen. The jewelry museum was great. The big attractions were overwhelming anyway. As a restaurant I would like to recommend the Antica in Plaka with a view of the Acropolis.
All access controls without any problems. Only the yellow hop on hop off unloaded us once at 4.30 p.m. without warning in the middle of the city of Athens and on Sunday the bus did not come to the stop in the port of Piraeus shown on the plan despite waiting for an hour. So Uber, which works wonderfully in Athens. Be sure to keep the Acropolis Pass!
This pass works fine. Especially the hopon-hopoff bus. It took a little longer to get to the museum, but we could also enter there for free. NB! Sometimes you need one QR, then another. So make sure you both have QR codes at hand.
This is just so much a time saver, well worth it. The convenience of the app was a godsend, saving carrying lots of paper passes. The quick response I had to a problem was appreciated.
Some things weren’t perfectly clear but after spending some time figuring it out we were able to work it through. I’d use again,
