Poble Espanyol is a fascinating open-air museum in the heart of Barcelona that was built in 1929 for the International Exhibition. Originally intended as a temporary exhibition, it has developed into a major attraction offering a recreation of a traditional Spanish village.
The museum allows visitors to stroll through winding streets and discover impressive replicas of buildings from different regions of Spain, including Andalusia, Catalonia and the Basque Country. The architecture and design is magnificent, with over 100 detailed replicas of houses, churches and public buildings, showcasing many traditional crafts such as ceramics and wrought iron.
In addition to the architecture, Poble Espanyol offers numerous exhibitions and activities throughout the year. Visitors can admire contemporary art in museums such as the Fran Daurel Museum or explore traditional fabrics in the Textile Museum. Workshops make it possible to learn traditional crafts such as pottery and glass blowing.
