Public transport in Barcelona

Barcelona offers a variety of public transport options to help you explore the city in comfort. Here is some information about the different options:

Metro: The Barcelona Metro is one of the most important means of transport in the city. It consists of several lines that connect the different parts of the city. The metro is fast and efficient and offers you a convenient way to get around the city.

FGC commuter trains: The FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya) operates commuter trains that connect Barcelona with the surrounding cities and towns. These trains are a good option if you want to cross the city limits of Barcelona.

Funicular to Montjuïc: Montjuïc is a hill in Barcelona that offers many sights and parks. To get to Montjuïc, you can take the Funicular, a funicular railway that runs from Paral-lel metro station. From there you have a breathtaking view of the city and the Mediterranean.

TMB buses: TMB (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona) operates an extensive bus network in the city. The buses are a practical way to get to places not covered by the metro. They connect different neighbourhoods and places of interest.

• You can optionally book your ticket for all public transport in the Barcelona City Pass.
• The ticket is available for 1 to 5 days. But don't worry, even if you buy a City Pass for 6 or 7 days, we give you the option of adding the public transport ticket for 5 days.
• Your ticket will only be activated the first time you use public transport. For example, you can use the hop-on hop-off bus on the first day and only activate your local transport ticket from the second or third day.
• Accessibility: Most metro stations in Barcelona are barrier-free and have lifts and escalators to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility.
• Transporting dogs: As a general rule, dogs are allowed on public transport such as the metro and FGC commuter trains, provided they are kept on a lead and wear a muzzle.
