The first highlight of the tour is Brunelleschi’s dome, an architectural masterpiece that crowns the cathedral of Florence. Here you can not only admire the fascinating architecture, but also enjoy breathtaking views of Florence. Please note that you have to climb 463 steps to visit the dome – there are no lifts. The Opera del Duomo Museum houses an impressive collection of sculptures, paintings and works of art that were once created for the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. The ancient crypt of Santa Reparata is another highlight not to be missed. Giotto’s bell tower towers over the Piazza del Duomo and impresses with its elegant design and ornate facades. Those who want to climb to the balconies have to overcome 414 steps. And finally, your ticket is also valid for the Baptistery of San Giovanni, a jewel of Romanesque architecture.

  • Opera del Duomo Museum
    Open daily: 8.30 am – 7.00 pm.
    Closed every first Tuesday of the month. 
  • Crypt of Santa Reparata
    Open Monday to Saturday: 10.15 am – 4.00 pm.
    Sundays and religious holidays: 1.30 pm – 4.00 pm. 
  • Giotto's Bell Tower
    Open daily: 8:15 am – 6.45 pm 
  • Baptistery
    Open daily: 8.30 am – 7.30 pm.
    The Baptistery closes at 2.00 pm on the first Sunday of the month. Please note: the mosaics on the vault of the Baptistery are currently closed for restoration work. 
  • The monuments are closed on 25 December, 1 January and Easter Sunday.
  • The monuments included in the Brunelleschi Pass can be visited without time restrictions within 3 calendar days from the selected date. The validity starts from the selected date for the visit to the dome. To visit the dome, it is mandatory to respect the selected date and time. 
  • Brunelleschi’s Dome: Visitors must climb 463 steps. Lifts are not available. 
  • Giotto’s Bell Tower: climb by foot up 414 steps, no lift 
  • Visitors who wish to climb the dome and the bell tower must leave their luggage (suitcases, rucksacks, bags and other items) at the left-luggage office (Piazza Duomo no. 38/r) BEFORE entering the building.
