What is there to see here?

On an area of 157 hectares, completely new districts are emerging on the banks of the Elbe. Between the Speicherstadt and the Elbe bridges, work, living, education, culture, leisure and retail are being combined to create completely new districts. Since the Hafencity – in contrast to the city centre – was not enclosed by a dike despite the risk of flooding, access to the water is guaranteed everywhere. For flood protection, the entire area – with the exception of the quay and riverside promenades – was raised to about 8-9 metres above mean sea level.

And where do we go from there?

There is plenty to see in the Hafencity: from the Miniatur Wunderland in the Speicherstadt to the International Maritime Museum, from the Elbphilharmonie to the modern railway station of the Elbbrücken. Thanks to the good connections by underground and various bus lines, you can quickly get from the Hafencity back to the city centre – or to any other place that can be reached by public transport.
