Palau March is the former town palace of the famous Mallorcan March family. It was built in 1939 and later became the property of the Bartolomé March Severa Foundation. In 2003, the descendants of Joan March opened a museum for his art and book collection. These include sculptures by Rodin, murals by Dalì, paintings, antiques and Mallorcan cartographies. The city palace offers a unique view over the harbour and Palma.

The family residence

The Palau March was built between 1939 and 1945 and the most important artists and architects of the time were involved in its construction. The building is characterised by historicism, but also shows strong influences from Mallorcan and Italian building traditions. Borrowings from baroque palaces are unmistakable. Particularly noteworthy is the courtyard of honour – a unique reception area with elegant ornamentation, a stylish gallery and a garden terrace that offers a wonderful view over the city.
