The stated aim of the Deutsches Museum is to bring scientific and technical knowledge to life for its visitors in an understandable way. To this end, it presents the historical development of the natural sciences and technical inventions, as well as their significance for social development, using selected examples.

The main building is located on the Museumsinsel in Munich. You will also find other locations in Munich, such as the Aviation Museum in Schleißheim.

Experience technology and science up close at the Deutsches Museum

In the museum, demonstrations, experiments and media stations invite you to participate and try things out. The masterpieces gathered here will amaze you and challenge your mind: from the first computers and aeroplanes, the first petrol-driven car and huge ships, to the first microscopes. Learn more about astronomy and oceanography, nanotechnology and mining, timekeeping, musical instruments and pharmacy.

The collections cover the following topics: - Communication, information, media, - Man and the environment, - Natural sciences, - Traffic, mobility, transport (at the Verkehrszentrum on the Theresienhöhe), - Materials, energy, production, - Other collections

The exhibitions on the Museumsinsel are currently being modernised. Some of the buildings and collections are therefore temporarily inaccessible.
