The Munich-Nymphenburg Botanical Garden was established in 1914 because the old botanical garden in the city centre had become too small. Today, you can find wild and cultivated plants from all over the world here in Nymphenburg.
Well over 16,000 species are cultivated here. You can discover an incredible botanical diversity over more than 18 hectares. Flowers, rhododendrons, ferns and carnivorous plants are just a few of the many plants you can see. In the regional areas, you will find, for example, the Alpinum – the world of the Alps – with its collection of mountain plants from Central Europe. In the greenhouses, which cover a total of over 4,500 m², you will find humid tropical areas, cool tropical mountain forests and hot cactus landscapes.
Take a break from city life and hike through this green oasis. Enjoy the palm trees, orchids, cacti and colourful butterflies that are a must in this habitat.
