The Musée de l'Armée, located in the historic Hôtel des Invalides in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, is one of the most important military museums in the world. Founded in 1905, it houses an extensive collection documenting the military history of France and Europe from antiquity to the present day.The impressive Hôtel des Invalides, built in the 17th century under King Louis XIV, originally served as a hospital and resting place for wounded soldiers. Today it is not only home to the museum, but also the final resting place of Napoleon Bonaparte, whose tomb in the Dôme des Invalides is a particular highlight.
The museum's collections include armour, weapons, uniforms, works of art, models and documents. It offers a comprehensive overview of the military events and personalities that have shaped the history of France. The exhibitions are organised thematically and chronologically and cover different eras and conflicts, including the World Wars, the Napoleonic Wars and the French Revolution.
