The Musée des Arts et Métiers can be considered one of the oldest technical and industrial museums in the world. Pascal’s calculating machine, Lavoisier’s instruments, Blériot’s aeroplane, the first televisions, cameras and computers, Foucault’s pendulum... A unique journey through the history of science and technology.
The Musée des Arts et Métiers is home to the oldest industrial and technological collection in the world. Today, this heritage is presented in seven major thematic areas: scientific instruments, materials, construction, communication, energy, mechanics and transport.
Among the most remarkable exhibits are Jacques Alexandre Charles’ physics cabinet and Antoine Laurent de Lavoisier’s laboratory, Louis Ferdinand Berthoud’s clock collection, Jacques Vaucanson’s barrel loom, the Chappe telegraph and Clément Ader’s No. 3 aeroplane.
