Have you only ever seen palaces in films? Then the ‘Musée Nissim de Camondo’ is your chance to see a private mansion up close from the inside. The state museum was opened in 1936 in the Parisian aristocratic palace ‘Hôtel Camondo’. Dark wooden furniture, contemporary artefacts and paintings by famous artists, tapestries, porcelain and silverware transport visitors back in time. The unique thing here is that the entire museum is still in its original state.Nissim de Camondo, the founder of the museum, was a passionate collector of furniture and works of art during his lifetime in the 18th century, which he then distributed for decoration in his purpose-built palace.
