The church of San Giovanni Battista was given its current late Gothic appearance in the late 15th century, having been remodelled and restored several times over the centuries. It houses masterpieces by artists such as Enrico Merengo, Giovanni Battista Cima and Alvise Vivarini.

First mentioned in a document in 1090, the church's legendary history dates back to the 7th century. It was rebuilt in 1178. Over the centuries, the interior underwent significant changes, especially between the 16th and 18th centuries, which greatly altered the liturgical space.

However, the presbytery with the ‘Baptism of Christ’ altarpiece by Giambattista Cima remains the architectural centrepiece of the church. Between 1486 and 1503, a complex decoration was created for this area, which includes the high altar and the side altars.
