What awaits you on site

The church of Santa Maria Zobenigo, also known as the Chiesa di Santa Maria del Giglio, dates back to the 10th century. Its current façade was built between 1680 and 1683, when the interior was also completely redesigned. The façade of the church is typical of Venetian Baroque and was built as a monument to the Barbaro family. Instead of Christian figures, the façade is decorated with portraits of the family, city plans and maps of places where Antonio Barbaro served. He also had naval battles in which Barbaro (allegedly) took part depicted. Inside, visitors can see paintings and sculptures of Venetian art by famous artists such as Tintoretto, Rubens and Enrico Merengo.

  Mon-Sat: 10.30 – 1.30 and 2.30 – 5 pm 
• Last admission at 4.20 pm. 
• The Chiesa di Santa Maria del Giglio is closed to visitors on Sundays, as well as on 1 January, Easter, 15 August and 25 December.
