The Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore, also known as the Church of the Most Holy Saviour, is an outstanding example of Venetian Renaissance architecture, designed by Andrea Palladio. It was built in 1577 in gratitude for Venice's salvation from the plague and celebrates the annual Redentore festival in July. The church impresses with its classic Palladian façade and a simple interior, which nevertheless houses impressive paintings by Francesco Bassano, Paolo Veronese and Tintoretto. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is an important cultural and religious landmark in Venice.
